Humans in the Loop

AI changes the work. People make it work. One evening on what AI really asks of the way we organise and develop people, on the new campus of INNOCOM Institute at KU Leuven Arenberg Science Park.

Sound familiar?

Half the team uses AI every day, and nobody has talked to them about what it means for their role.
We roll out AI tools faster than we train the people who use them.
HR asks IT what AI means for our jobs. IT asks HR.
Nobody really owns the question of how our people grow alongside AI.

This evening is about the people behind those moments.

The programme: four keynotes

Four business and thought leaders on how AI changes work, and what that asks of people and organisations.

1

Not just another transformation

Stef Devos, Enterprise Architect, INNOCOM

Most organisations treat AI as the next transformation: a project with a roadmap, a budget and an end date. Stef argues it does not work that way. AI shifts tasks, roles and decisions all at once, and it keeps shifting them. What does that mean for the people who do the work?

2

Organising people

Geert Van Hootegem, Full Professor of Sociology of Work and Organisation, KU Leuven

Once AI sits inside the work, the way work is divided and coordinated has to change with it. Geert looks at organisation design from the human side: how you shape teams and jobs so people stay in control of their work, instead of working around the system.

3

Create a ripple effect

Christophe Windelen, Partner, INNOCOM

Most transformations do not fail for lack of plans, models or expertise. They fail because people are not on board. Under pressure, organisations centralise decisions, stack initiatives and call in outside help. Christophe makes the case that real movement starts in the middle of the organisation, when leaders activate the potential that is already there instead of injecting yet another change.

4

From insight to practice

Guy Brouns, Director, INNOCOM Institute

Guy brings the three stories together and asks what they mean for the way architects and leaders learn, and how AI, soft skills and critical thinking now run through the Master in Enterprise Architecture.

A new campus

INNOCOM Institute, now in Leuven

This evening is also the first public event on the Institute's new campus at KU Leuven Arenberg Science Park, where the Master in Enterprise Architecture now takes place.

The Institute offers training in enterprise architecture, composable architecture, security, transformation and leadership skills. INNOCOM is a partner in the Craftzing group, alongside Wieni, Made, Namahn and Sagacify. Thanks to that partnership, the Institute now also offers training in human-centred design and applied AI.

The Institute stays independent. It designs its own programmes and brings in partners where their expertise adds something for participants.

New to the Institute? Then this is a good evening to see the campus and meet the people who teach here.
